The Need
Ramat Shlomo is a neighborhood located on a hilltop in northern Jerusalem, between Ramot Alon and Shoafat, and since the 90’s has been home to approximately 17,000 residents. The ever growing demand for housing in the capital necessitated the formulation of a plan for expanding this neighborhood.
The Vision
The neighborhood is located east of the motor entrance to the capital from road 443, it was named after the esteemed Rabbi Shlomo Uerbach, and is populated primarily by a young demographic, about 40% of the residents are 13-40 years old, that affects the housing requirements and the character of public spaces and institutions.
The Design
Our team took an active part in the planning and management of the present development stage of the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood, at the request of Moria construction company.
The hill, on which the neighborhood is situated, slopes south-east and west, where it is covered with pine trees that lead on to and integrate h with the Ramot forest. The center of the neighborhood is spread across the hilltop at the height of 800 m. above sea level, and includes both a central boulevard and a panoramic promenade stretching along the ridge.
The streets of the neighborhood are parallel to the topography lines where the houses along these streets are terraced. In this manner the houses blend perfectly with the landscape and topography of the neighborhood.
The neighborhood’s anticipated expansion, which was authorized several years ago, will add about 2,200 units, while maintaining its unique character and design.
